GUEST HOUSE

It has been years in the making (or renovating, I should say), but we are finally very proud to offer classy and comfortable accommodations for up to 4 people in our charming guest house.  One of the bedrooms in this two-bedroom house contains antique furnishings and a queen bed with luxury linens for a comfortable and quiet night's sleep.

A comfortable queen-size inflatable bed with headboard and frame can be set up in the roomy living room to provide sleeping accommodations for two guests.  Or if preferred, two separate twin beds can be set up if guests don't want to get too cozy with each other.

The bathroom has an original L. Wolff clawfoot bathtub manufactured in 1906 (stamped on bottom).  The walls are covered with old family photographs, some dating back to the 1800's.

The living room is meant for relaxation, be it reading one of the many books collected over the years, watching television or a movie (Amazon and Netflix movies and shows are available), playing cards or a lively game of Bingo, or taking a quiet nap.  Good Wifi signal is available for electronic devices.

The focal point of the kitchen is an original 1953 O'Keefe & Merritt stove, meticulously refurbished several years ago by Richard.  It's a real beauty!  More modern kitchen amenities include a microwave, refrigerator and coffee pot.

The second bedroom of the guest house is the sales room for Pineywoods Herb Farm, containing teas, soaps, potpourri, essential oils, culinary herbs, and more.  This cozy little house is quiet, safe, secure, and a fantastic place for a girlfriend weekend, a romantic getaway for a couple, or a peaceful retreat for someone who wants to get away from it all, be it a night, several days, or a week.

Cost per night for one or two guests is $110.00.  Additional guests are $25.00 each per night.  A hearty breakfast is included each morning.  Lunch and/or dinner can be accommodated for an additional charge.  A 10% discount will be given on lodging for stays of 4 days or longer.  Due to the many antiques and family heirlooms in this guest house it is not suitable for young children under six years of age.

We are located in the middle of the Davy Crockett National Forest.  It is quiet, peaceful, and serene.  However, that doesn't mean there isn't anything to do!  A mere four miles away is Ratcliff Lake Recreation Area with activities of fishing, swimming, hiking, picnicking and more.  Lufkin is 40 minutes away and has shopping, museums, great restaurants, and a number of highly-acclaimed annual events.  An annual Fiddler's Festival in Crockett (20 minutes away), and the annual Old Mill Music Festival right here in Kennard provide world-class entertainment just a stone's throw away.
